We developed and continue to maintain a comprehensive marketplace for Fotografi-Cameramani.ro, Romania's leading catalog of wedding photographers and videographers. Using PHP, we created a user-friendly platform featuring member account management, platform administration, an annual contest, editor’s selection, and a blog. Our team of 12 professionals invested over 1,000 hours in this project, working closely with the client in an Agile manner. Our contributions spanned programming, UI/UX design, DevOps, SEO, and consultancy. We remain a trusted partner, providing ongoing support and developing new features based on market feedback.

Fotografi-Cameramani.ro is the largest and most popular catalog of wedding photographers and videographers in Romania, first launched in 2010.

This company is a benchmark for any wedding photographer in Romania and is a leader in the marketing services for wedding industry.

 

Challenge

The client wanted to develop a marketplace for brides looking for photographers and videographers.

The marketplace was trying to solve the following pains: couples need to find the right offer in a complex and diversified market, in a short time. At the same time, photographers and videographers need exposure and classic marketing channels are no longer enough for advertising in this niche.

The client was looking for a long term collaboration with a software company to outsource the initial marktetplace development services, but also to add new features after release, based on market feedback.

Solution

We have created from scratch a custom marketplace based on very specific functionalities for this domain, with a user friendly interface and a well optimized structure for search engines.

Frontend Application

The catalog dedicated to future brides looking for the right offer. It has two sections: the photographers’ and the videographers’ catalog. Users can filter and sort members based on a complex set of criteria. They can search based on location, price, availability, portfolio quality, and customer recommendations.

Member account management module

The area where service providers manage their profile. They can also contact the brides that requested their services for an event

Platform administration module

The area used by catalog administrators. It contains all the tools for platform management and editing content.

Annual Contest

Annual wedding photography and videography competition in Romania. Running since 2013. It features the submission of contest materials. A photo/video nomination module for the nomination committee. A judging module used by jury members, and a results listing system.

Editor’s Selection

A system to select the best photos and videos in the catalog. It’s based on a complex voting system, cast by a board of editors. It features a nomination material submission system – for the members of the catalog. A judging module for jury members, and results listing system.

How We Worked

Being from the beginning in this project and growing together, our contribution here covered many areas, from programming services, user interface design, dev ops, SEO and testing to consultancy in technical and business aspects

During development process, the team was made of 2 backend developers (PHP), 1 frontend developer (HTML, CSS, Javascript), a UI/UX designer, and a QA engineer. The Product Owner was part of the client team, but the Scrum Master was from Control F5.

As we do in every project, we worked Agile, having regular status meetings with the entire team involved in the development process. Ceremonies like Sprint Planning and Sprint Review, but also Sprint Retrospective helped us to continuous improve our workflow and to deliver faster. Slack was our communication tool and Jira the backlog and sprint management platform.

ControlF5 is still a trusted partner in the Fotografi-Cameramani project. We provide continuous support and maintenance, as the project is getting bigger and new features are developed.
