Samsung and OpenAI Reportedly Collaborating to Bring ChatGPT to Smart TVs

Samsung and OpenAI are reportedly joining forces to integrate ChatGPT into Samsung’s smart TV lineup. While Samsung’s smart TVs already feature numerous AI capabilities, this partnership could solidify the brand’s dominant position in the TV market, which it has maintained for an impressive 19 years.

According to a report from a Korean publication, this collaboration may lead to the development of an advanced AI-powered television offering more personalized content recommendations.

Although no official announcement has been made, the report hints at potential features powered by ChatGPT, such as real-time audio and subtitle translations, personalized healthcare advice, and enhanced voice commands. Users might also be able to ask the chatbot to adjust TV settings, record shows, or locate content across streaming platforms.

To recap, Samsung’s TizenOS-based TVs already include AI functionalities like AI Upscaling, AI Sound, and the newly introduced AI Vision. The latter can perform live translations and even identify dishes on-screen, providing links to corresponding recipes through Samsung’s food app.

This move comes as Google prepares to integrate its AI chatbot, Gemini, into Google TV OS by the end of 2025. Samsung’s collaboration with OpenAI could ensure that TizenOS remains competitive with these advancements in AI technology.

However, details of the partnership are still under discussion. As such, this information should be viewed with caution, as plans may evolve in the future.
