Amazon Prepares to Launch The New Alexa Hardware This Fall

Amazon is set to introduce a fresh lineup of hardware alongside its AI-enhanced Alexa. In an interview with Bloomberg, CEO Andy Jassy hinted at the upcoming devices, describing them as “brand new” and “beautiful,” with a planned launch this fall.

The announcement follows Amazon’s unveiling of Alexa Plus, an upgraded version of the voice assistant designed for more natural conversations and expanded capabilities, including booking rides and finding event tickets. According to Amazon, “almost every” Alexa device will be compatible with Alexa Plus, except for some older Echo models. The new service will be available for $19.99 per month but will be included with a Prime subscription.

While Jassy didn’t provide further details on the new hardware, Amazon appears to be prioritizing display-based devices. Panos Panay, Amazon’s head of devices and services, emphasized the importance of screens, stating, “I believe in screens. I think they matter in a massive way.”

This focus is already evident in Amazon’s product strategy. Following Panay’s arrival in 2023, the company introduced a larger Echo Show with a 21-inch display, signaling a shift toward more screen-centric smart home devices.
