Apple Might Be Developing Its Own AI-Powered Answer Engine

Apple is reportedly assembling a new team to create a ChatGPT-style application, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The group — internally referred to as “Answers, Knowledge, and Information” — is focused on building an AI-driven “answer engine” capable of responding to user questions using data pulled from across the internet.

The tool could either launch as a standalone app or be integrated into existing Apple services like Siri, Safari, or other native apps.

Gurman also reports that Apple is actively hiring for this project, seeking candidates with expertise in search algorithms and engine development — a sign that the company is serious about developing its own search capabilities.

While Siri already includes some ChatGPT integration, plans for a more advanced and personalized AI upgrade have faced multiple delays. Additionally, Apple may need to revisit its longstanding search partnership with Google, following the tech giant’s recent antitrust setback.
