While Apple’s Vision Pro hasn’t made waves in the tech world yet, the company remains committed to developing mixed reality devices that blend the digital and physical worlds.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up for another major release in its mixed reality lineup as early as 2024. This new headset is expected to cost around $2,000 — significantly less than the $3,500 Vision Pro. Apple plans to reduce the cost by using more affordable materials, a less advanced processor, and leaving out the EyeSight feature, which shows the user’s eyes on the outside of the headset.
Looking further ahead, Apple is rumored to be working on a second-generation Vision Pro for 2026, followed by smart glasses similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans, and even AirPods with integrated cameras by 2027.
The report also touches on Apple’s smart home ambitions. Although the company has struggled in this area, it’s said to be planning a budget-friendly, tablet-like device designed for household use, which could function for TV streaming, FaceTime, and app control. Apple may also introduce a tabletop device with a robotic arm, priced at around $1,000.
