Apple Partners with Anthropic to Develop AI-Powered Coding Platform

Apple is reportedly collaborating with Anthropic to create a generative AI platform designed to write, edit, and test code, according to Bloomberg. Internally referred to as a “vibe-coding” tool, the platform builds on Apple’s existing Xcode development environment and integrates Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet AI model.

While the tool is currently intended for internal use, Apple has not yet ruled out a public release.

This move reflects Apple’s broader AI strategy, which includes partnerships with other major players. ChatGPT from OpenAI already supports the company’s Apple Intelligence features, and Google’s Gemini may be introduced as an alternative in the future.

Anthropic’s Claude models have gained popularity among developers for their strong performance on AI coding tools like Cursor and Windsurf—positioning Claude as a key asset in Apple’s push to modernize its development tools through AI.
