ChatGPT Just Got Smarter: Now Connects to Google Drive and Dropbox

OpenAI has announced powerful new updates for ChatGPT users: the AI assistant can now connect directly to cloud storage platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, and OneDrive. This means users can ask questions about the documents and spreadsheets stored in these services — for example, “What was my Q1 revenue last year?” or “How many ferry rides did I take in Italy?” — and get organized, citation-backed answers on the spot.

In addition, OpenAI has introduced a new “record mode” feature, allowing users to capture meeting notes, brainstorming sessions, or even spontaneous voice notes. These recordings are transcribed with time-stamped citations and suggested action items, turning spoken thoughts into structured insights.

Both features are currently available to ChatGPT Team users — a subscription plan designed for small teams, starting at $25/month per user (with at least two users on an annual plan). The integration with third-party cloud services is also extended to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu plans.

These updates are part of OpenAI’s growing push into the enterprise market, a sector that’s rapidly adopting AI solutions. Since launching ChatGPT Enterprise in 2023, the company has attracted major clients like Canva, PwC, The Estée Lauder Companies, and Block. It later introduced ChatGPT Team in early 2024 to serve smaller organizations.

OpenAI now reports having over 3 million paying business users, up from 2 million just a few months ago — a sign of accelerating demand. As the AI race intensifies, OpenAI is going head-to-head with giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, all vying for a slice of an enterprise AI market projected to exceed $1 trillion in less than seven years.
