Samsung’s highly anticipated Unpacked 2025 event has concluded, showcasing its latest innovations. The spotlight was on the new Galaxy S25 lineup, which includes the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. However, the event wasn’t solely about hardware—Samsung placed significant emphasis on the integration of AI into its devices.

AI Takes Center Stage

Samsung highlighted its advancements in AI, with Google Gemini playing a pivotal role in the Galaxy S25 series. Accessible via a side button, Gemini allows users to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, such as locating an Italian restaurant and sharing the details with a contact in one go.

The company also teased the Galaxy S25 Edge, its rumored slim phone, sharing only a glimpse and a single descriptor: “slim.”

Galaxy S25 Series: Breaking Down the Lineup

The Galaxy S25 series includes three models, each catering to different needs and budgets:

Galaxy S25: Starting at $799.99
Galaxy S25 Plus: Starting at $999.99
Galaxy S25 Ultra: Starting at $1,299.99

Preorders are open ahead of the official launch on February 7th.

The design of the S25 series remains consistent with previous models, except for the slightly more curved edges of the S25 Ultra. The biggest upgrade lies in performance, with the Snapdragon Elite 8 chipset offering a 40% performance boost over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The chipset also includes a neural processing unit to power Samsung’s enhanced AI capabilities, including Google Gemini and new generative AI features.

Galaxy S25 Edge: Slim and Sleek

Samsung provided a brief teaser for the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slim addition to the lineup. Although details remain sparse, the Edge features a minimalist design with two rear cameras, compared to the three on other S25 models.

Rumors suggest the phone is just 6.4mm thick, but hands-on testing was unavailable at the event. Samsung’s official reveal leaves much to the imagination, but the teaser confirms the device’s existence.

Project Moohan: Samsung’s First Android XR Headset

Samsung also showcased its Project Moohan XR headset. While previously seen in leaks, this marks the first time it’s been publicly photographed. The device bears a resemblance to Apple’s Vision Pro with elements reminiscent of Meta’s Quest Pro.

The XR headset represents Samsung’s entry into the growing extended reality market, promising to rival major players in immersive technology.

Galaxy S25 Ultra: Durability Redefined

One of the standout features of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is its improved durability. The phone debuts Corning Gorilla Armor 2, a ceramic-based glass capable of withstanding drops from heights of up to 2.2 meters (7.2 feet) onto concrete.

While lab tests involving weighted “pucks” have demonstrated this resilience, Samsung and Corning caution that real-world results may vary. Nevertheless, this represents a significant leap in smartphone durability.
